Something amazing happened. I posted this hairstyle on Twitter, and Amber Fillerup Clark (yes, barefoot blonde!) tweeted me asking me to teach her how to do it! JAW DROP!

I know.

So I decided to post about it today and share it with everyone! It’s really easy, and great to do on that last day before you wash. I love it for summer, swimming, hiking, and playing at the park too! It’s my new go-to bun for summer, great for a mom (or anyone!) on the go! It gets all your hair up and out of the way but still looks really cute.

STEP ONE: First, you are going to start out with parting your hair, and sectioning off any pieces you do not want pulled back into the front row braids. I like to leave some hair out, at least a little, to frame my face. In my opinion, it just looks cuter!

STEP TWO: Do a dutch braid until you reach this point, almost the end of my hair (it’ll just depend on your length!!). This is when I pull the braid apart and tie an elastic at the end. Repeat the same thing on the other side. Be sure you leave out any pieces you want framing your face.

STEP THREE: Section off a handful of hair at the crown of your head and start a fishtail braid. Braid it until you reach almost the end of your hair, and pull the braid apart. I am addicted to pulling mine apart to make them chunky because I have fine hair! You don’t have to pull it apart if you like the thickness of your braid! Finish it off with an elastic.

STEP FOUR: Remove the elastics tying the two dutch braids off and bring them together UNDER your fishtail. I tie them off, then flip the fishtail over them to hide the elastic.

STEP FIVE: Pull the rest of your hair into a low bun, and finish off the look with wrapping a piece of hair around you elastic to hide it.

That’s it!

I hope this explains how to do it well enough, and that you try it out!

Let me know if you like it or if you have any questions. I would be happy to help!

If you try this look out, please post it with the tag #tessamariehair so I can see it and comment!

Thanks for reading, have a wonderful Monday!
